SuperVPN Free VPN Client

While SuperVPN is a good VPN, there are better VPNs available at a lower cost. For example, CyberGhost offers excellent VPN capabilities for a reasonable monthly cost, so you don't have to settle for anything less.

SuperVPN, situated in the United States, impresses us as a market-oriented service. The team behind it understands what users want from a VPN and how to offer it to them. SuperVPN distinguishes itself from its competitors by offering a wide range of options. There are a variety of price plans available based for your VPN needs, such as torrenting, Blackberry service, VoIP, streaming, secure browsing, gaming, and so on, and access to Super VPN's servers is spread widely depending on your membership type.

Privacy

Free VPN applications aren't always a smart choice for privacy because there's seldom any information about who operates them or what they could do with your data. We wondered if SuperVPN Free VPN Client would be any different. No, no, no.

SuperSoftTech is identified as the developer, although it does not have a website. Its address appears to be on the National University of Singapore's campus, and the only email address is a Gmail address.

If you look up that address online, it appears to belong to Jinrong Zheng, the creator behind LinkVPN and numerous other programmes. A bit more digging turns up a page describing the app, complete with the goanalyticsapp.gmail.com email address and a Beijing address.

Apps

The large list of permissions in SuperVPN makes it a little terrifying to install, but it's our job to take chances, so we hit the Install button and the programme was up and running in seconds.

The commercials aren't as annoying as they were the previous time we used the app, when full-screen auto-playing movies would appear one after another on a daily basis. We saw several, but they're more restricted, more like what we'd expect from a standard ad-sponsored software: you could start with an embedded text app, then a full-screen ad appears when you choose a key function, and occasionally a timer, but you can usually dismiss it with a click.

Performance

In both the US and the UK, our speed tests revealed that SuperVPN Free VPN client averaged approximately 20-30Mbps. That's a fraction of what you'd expect from a paid VPN, but it's not terrible for a free service, and it's sufficient for streaming, surfing, and other basic operations.

SuperVPN's site unblocking results were less than ideal, as we were unable to access BBC iPlayer, Amazon Prime Video, or Disney+.

However, SuperVPN was able to stream US Netflix material from its US location, which was a noteworthy success.

Strong links to China

SuperVPN One of the free VPNs that appear to be too good to be true is FreeVPN Client. It isn't even the only SuperVPN available on Google Play.

“Super VPN – Best Free Proxy”, “SuperVPN 2018 – Secured, Unlimited VPN Proxy” and “SuperVPN Free VPN for Countries – Protected Server” are one of the many others.

To make things easy, we'll refer to SuperVPN FreeVPN Client as just SuperVPN from now on - but don't mistake it with any of the other options.

SuperSoftTech — the alleged creator of SuperVPN – has a worrying lack of information accessible for a software with over 50 million instals.

Customer Support Rating

SuperVPN does not provide any customer assistance.

Although the Google Play Store page mentions a Gmail account, we received no response when we emailed it.

There is a FAQ section within the app that provides some basic troubleshooting advice, but it is nowhere near extensive enough to compensate for the lack of genuine customer assistance.
